Alcohol sales at bars and restaurants in Bexar County largely rebounded last year after sales plummeted in 2020 due to the pandemic. At the time, sanitary measures kept many dining rooms and bars closed.

In 2021, alcohol sales in bars and restaurants totaled $626 million, an increase of 78% from $350 million in 2020.

While alcohol sales soared in 2021, they fell short of 2019’s total of $644 million.

One of the contributing factors to March’s strong sales may have been spring break, which may have helped SeaWorld San Antonio rank in the county’s top 20 for liquor sales with 495,131 $.

Sales were driven by strong numbers from Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services of Texas, which provides alcohol services for many locations in San Antonio, and Hospitality International, Inc.

Hotel Emma and La Cantera Resort and Spa also posted strong profits.

Several new San Antonio spots like Little Woodrow’s, Smoke BBQ + SKYBAR and Chicken N Pickle were also among the most popular places to grab a drink, records show.
