Bandido Taqueria Mexicana is moving its restaurant to the East End of Louisville

A California-style taqueria has moved one of its Louisville restaurants from downtown to eastern Jefferson County.

Bandido Taqueria Mexicana closed its Phoenix Hill neighborhood location at 905 E. Liberty on June 25, a space it had occupied since 2019.

And this month, a new taqueria opened at 2901 Goose Creek Road, just off Westport Road in the Goose Creek Center.

Opening of the Phoenix Hill location: West Coast-style taqueria finds second home at Louisville Brewery

While the Bandido brand dates back to 1974 in San Diego, Louisville got its first location in 2016. That location, at 423 University Blvd., just east of the University of Louisville campus, remains open.

The now closed location, next to Falls City Beer, opened in 2019, and a location in Lexington opened in 2020.

Exam: This Mexican restaurant near the U of L serves up indulgent (and big!)

At the new location – a former Long John Silver’s – expect the same menu, with margaritas, Mexican sodas and a range of burritos (including breakfast burritos), quesadillas, elotes (corn on the cob dressed) and tacos.

Although the menu does not change, the new location does have drive-thru, a new feature for the company.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
