Derf’s future is in doubt after the end of the year
••• From a reader: “What do you know about Farmacy Santa Barbara not renewing Derf’s lease? I heard about end of year then parking lot to support their business. An offer may have been made to buy Derf’s liquor license, which would indicate they want to continue as a restaurant, but the offer, as of now, was declined. I don’t know if this is all true, but I went to Derf’s (Mission/De La Vina), where I was told the lease was ending at the end of the year and they were hoping to renew it, but they don’t. still know if that will happen. Derf’s and the Farmacy cannabis store are on the same land, and the owner is an LLC affiliated with Farmacy’s parent company owner, Glass house brands.
••• Cafe Fresco announced that its new location, on E. Canon Perdido (State/Anacapa), opens September 26, with a party a few days earlier: “Please join us for our opening celebration on Saturday the 24th from 12-3pm! We will provide food and drink and have a great time!”
••• Bean BBQ closing at the end of the month: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Beans On State. Our last days of service will be Thursday-Saturday 9/22, 23, 24 and the following week Thursday-Saturday 9/29-10/1. We will serve dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the last days of service. We are looking for a smaller, cheaper space and hope to revamp and bring our delicious BBQ back to our wonderful community very soon! »
••• “The first owners of the Brewery sell their beloved restaurant and brasserie on W. Montecito Street in Santa Barbara. The new owners [Grant Danely and Joal Clayton]— two longtime customers raised on the Mesa, including a current employee — plan to bring renewed energy and much-needed investment to the establishment, which is the city’s oldest brewery. —Independent
••• Buellton Industrial kitchen continues to expand: “Well it’s official. We now have the whole building. Catering, restaurant, private dining room, here to go/ motley crew and now the space right in the middle with the fancy doors, fireplace and air conditioning. Stay tuned.”
