Here is the dish on my favorite food, snacks

My favorite doctor, Dr D., asked an unexpected question: “What’s your favorite restaurant?” “

This is a question to which I really do not have an answer. I am a person who does not have personal means of transport. I go where others take me.

And I go to meetings in restaurants.

I will try to answer his question as best I can.

I don’t really have a favorite restaurant. But I’m addicted to good Mexican food, so I have a favorite meal. It would be a cheese enchilada and a beef tamale with all the toppings. The best place for this meal is at La Cabaña in Suisun City. I don’t go there very often. But for me it is the best Mexican meal.

I often go to Mel’s Diner for lunch. Mel’s serves excellent cornbread with a bowl of chili. He has a lot of cheese and onions. I don’t want or need supper after lunch. I usually bring cornbread home and put it in the freezer until I decide to open a can of chili.

Larry says canned Stagg pepper is the best. He has more meat than the others. Too bad for Mexican cuisine.

I like other restaurants more for the company and the service than the food. Not that the food is bad, it’s just not that special.

The Deplorable Solano meet every Monday for breakfast at Denny’s on Holiday Lane. I usually have a few cookies and bacon, butter, honey, and lots of great coffee.

Monica is our server. She listens and is more of a friend than a waitress. I would go there just for that. Besides, I go there occasionally with Larry.

I used to think I was a big steak lover, but it’s been so long since I ate really good steak, I’m not sure I’m still a steak lover. My favorite at one time was a really rare rib eye.

It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but I remember Cordelia’s Happy Garden for its great Chinese food and service.

You put it all into perspective. You should know that my cupboard is filled with soups, pork and beans, macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter (crunchy) and crackers.

I have learned not to like chicken breast. No matter what they call it.

I am satisfied with the simple foods. It’s a throwback to when I was alone in my teenage years. Everything was good. And still is.

I must admit that I have another weakness besides the love for Mexican food: Cheez-Its. I can and have prepared a meal from Cheez-Its and soft drinks or beer.
