The Environmental Health Division of the Victoria County Public Health Department inspects places where food is served in Victoria, DeWitt, Jackson and Calhoun counties.

In inspection reports, each violation in priority items 1 to 20 is worth 3 demerit points; Priority Foundation items 21-33 are 2 demerit points; and the basic elements are 1 demerit. Zero is a perfect score, while 100 demerit points is the worst possible score.

Every Wednesday, the Lawyer publishes the results of the previous week’s inspections. All demerits are noted, but only priority and essential items are detailed.
