Mexican restaurant Zambrero comes to Chelmsford High Street in the former Boots store

Another new food outlet is coming to Chelmsford High Street in the form of Mexican fast food restaurant Zambrero. Taking over the old Boots store, Zambrero will offer burritos, nachos, quesadillas and other Mexican specialties, which can also be ordered through various delivery apps.

The restaurant was started in Australia, before growing and expanding to over 200 restaurants around the world. There are already branches in Loughton, Kentish Town and Twickenham – so Chelmsford is the next step in the company’s UK expansion plans.

In addition to offering good food, Zambrero has a “Plate 4 Plate” project. The company says, “Our mission is to eradicate world hunger through our Plate 4 Plate initiative.

“With every burrito or bowl purchased, a meal is donated to someone in need. With the help of our customers, we have donated over 40 million meals, working towards the 1 billion meal goal by 2025.”

And according to signs for the future store, Zambrero is also looking to hire staff for its new restaurant. It is not yet known how many jobs will be offered, but you can find out more on their website.

Zambrero is the latest in a series of new restaurants coming to Chelmsford in the near future. Popeyes, which serves its famous Louisiana fried chicken, will open its first sit-down restaurant in the UK.

German Doner Kebab will also open a new restaurant in a former Pizza Hut in the city, Japanese fast food restaurant Itsu opened in the Chelmer Village Retail Park and Wenzel’s Bakery also recently opened on the high street.
