New Detroit Wing Company has ‘learned to live with’ road building – Macomb Daily

Since the opening of the new Detroit Wing Company store last winter, workers and customers have had to contend with ongoing construction work on Gratiot Avenue.

You could say they got used to dealing with it.

“Road building is not fun, but we manage. We learned to live with it,” said Chrissy Peratsakis, franchise owner of the restaurant.

Peratsakis held numerous Door Dash and other food delivery promotions to bring out wings, deals, and other food.

“We’re going to keep it running until the construction is complete,” she said. “The good news, it’s started to move north, so the actual construction is no longer ahead of us.”

The take-out restaurant is located on Avenue Gratiot, south of Boulevard Masonique, in a part of the building occupied for years by a Denny’s restaurant. It is also central to the ongoing M-3 construction project.

DWC will be hosting a grand opening event on Saturday, with 40% “Happy Hour” discounts on boneless wings will be in effect all day. It has been operating on a soft-open basis for two months.

According to its website, DWC strives to serve all-natural wings, along with 20 homemade dry sauces and seasonings. The company says it’s the only “wing joint” in the region to offer menu items made entirely from scratch, including all 19 all-natural, preservative-free sauces.

In addition to chicken wings and tenderloins, the menu includes poutine, macaroni and cheese, salads and homemade cheesecake. They also have a liquor license and will start serving beer to go in a few weeks.

When asked what her favorite food was at the DWC, Peratsakis answered without hesitation, “I’m a sweet girl. I love very basic, teriyaki and honey barbecue sauces. Occasionally, I’ll have the fire sauce.

Based in Eastpointe, DWC has nearly 20 locations in Michigan and another 20 stores in development in Michigan, Ohio and Florida. In a show of aggressive growth, the number has more than doubled its footprint as it ventures out of state for the first time.

Gus Malliaras, founder of the Detroit Wing Company, said the new store is the fourth in Macomb County, which includes Chesterfield Township, Eastpointe and Sterling Heights.

“We continue to experience incredible growth in the Tri-County area, and have identified Roseville as a natural choice for a location based on the strong customer feedback and support we have received in neighboring communities,” Malliaras said in a statement.

“This new location allows us to serve the needs of more great people in Macomb County.”

Peratsakis, who runs the place with her husband, Emmanuel, and has 20 years of experience operating other franchise restaurants.

Noting that the area already has two existing wing joints, she said this underscores the area’s appetite for chicken wings.

“I’m not worried about it at all,” she said. “Because I know the product we sell blows theirs out of the water. We have a great concept and product. Everything we have here is made from scratch.
