Pennsylvania’s director of community economic development came to Erie today to see how the region is spending about $ 3 million on the Pandemic Recovery Fund.

Money will be allocated here to revive the activity of bars and restaurants.

These funds will go a long way to help SMEs recover and, in some cases, move forward.

Dennis Davin, secretary of the Department of Community Economic Development, joined the county administrative official and owner of the U Pick 6 public house in highlighting the state’s financial support efforts.

Davin said the $ 3 million grant to at least 125 small businesses in Erie County has helped restaurant taxes and real estate costs since the hospitality industry has been hit hard.

That support came through the $ 145 million COVID-19 hospitality industry recovery program known as “Chirp.”

“We can help pay for the utilities and keep it open while we need to reduce the occupancy of the facility, so I think it really worked,” said the director of community economic development. said Dennis Davin.

These funds have made the challenge easier for many SMEs.

“Now, with so many people in attendance and so many parties, I’m getting more confidence in myself, so in my opinion he definitely has a feel for what a good pub should be. “Masu,” said John Melody, co-owner of U Pick 6 Public House.

Mayor Kathy Dahl Kemper said the biggest problem she sees is that positions aren’t filled, but the employer is trying.

“Businesses are using this money to make things better, to recover and to keep people safe. You know this pandemic is not over, ”said Kathy Dahlkemper, Erie County executive. Said.

The secretary of the Regional Economic Development Agency said black and brown-owned businesses were also part of the funding.
