TAConganas opens in Midtown Memphis; Planned Germantown location
TACOnganas has two new locations coming up in the Memphis area.
The popular taco food truck opened a fourth permanent food truck location in Memphis on December 3. The most recent truck is located in Midtown at 2120 Central Ave., on the corner of Central and Cooper.
The Central Avenue location has parking for 19 cars, and the lot can be entered from both Central and Cooper.
âWe are excited about the location,â said TAConganas owner Greg Diaz. “Right now we’ll be open at the same times as our other locations, but people are already asking if we’ll stay open later on on weekends here in Midtown.”

The food truck company also has its first brick and mortar location under construction.
TACOnganas will take over the restaurant space in Thornwood currently occupied by Kohesian.
âI have worked with Greg on all of his truck locations and I think he has a fantastic vision for a new concept at Thornwood. We couldn’t be more excited, âsaid Spence Ray, vice president of McNeill Commercial Real Estate.
Diaz opened the first TACOnganas in early 2020. Since then, his taco trucks have been followed by hungry Memphians. The Taco Truck is known for its signature “Nganas Style” tacos that come with your choice of meat, in an oil-dipped corn tortilla made with dried peppers.
âWhen I was young, my mom and grandma would make a recipe with oil and chili peppers and dip the tacos in it before throwing them on the grill,â Diaz said. âIt gives the taco extra flavor. “
The new Germantown location will be an upscale Mexican restaurant.
âI have hired some great chefs and we have a general manager who is from Seattle,â said Diaz, adding that the new restaurant will have a full bar.
Kohesian Soko Style Eatery (1730 S Germantown Road, # 115, Germantown) is always open. Owner Julie Kim has said her last day of operation will be December 10.
âIt was not an easy choice to end this chapter,â said Kim, whose restaurant turns two this month. âWe are doing well, but we were faced with a lot of things that escaped me. My husband and I will be focusing on our other family businesses.
TACOnganas’ new ‘to name’ concept in Thornwood will open in early 2022. “I’m shooting for the first week of February,” Diaz said.
