Tacos Al Pastor at El Chinito Gordo
“Taco Tuesday in Tucson” is a column where we explore Tucson’s unique taco stands… on Tuesdays.
El Chinito Gordo opened in December 2019 at 2920 N. Oracle Rd., which previously housed Club 21 Mexican Cuisine for 73 years, and since then he’s been distributing merchandise on Taco Tuesdays (and other days of the week too).
Whether it’s crisp or something on the softer side, the restaurant has a lot of choice.
Let’s talk about the Los Tacos Sweet, however, and more importantly the Al Pasteur. The pork tacos, available a la carte for $ 3 each, are well seasoned and juicy with a layer of sweetness and chunks of char.
Plus, each taco is also served with cilantro, onions, and lime.
Since you can order them individually, you can let your wild side shine by ordering any of the other soft tacos available, including the Carne Asada, Grilled Fish, Birria, Chicken Tinga with Chorizo, Grilled Chicken, Rajas con Queso, and Grilled shrimp.
If you’re still hungry, take a look at the Churro Nachos.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a bunch of cinnamon-sugar bunuelo crisps and small pieces of churros, then topped with vanilla ice cream, sweet mango salsa, caramel, and chocolate.
