Tacos tj 664 wins Best Dish at Chimps and Salsa Mexican Food Fest
We are big fans of Sedgwick County Zoo. So when I was asked to judge their Mexican Food Festival, Chimpanzees and salsaI jumped at the chance.
If you haven’t been, the event was in its fourth year. There was live music from local and regional Hispanic bands, children’s activities, face painting, free shirts, and lots of Mexican food vendors. The chimpanzees and salsa were included in the regular admission to the zoo.
To top it off, the weather couldn’t be more perfect for a June afternoon.
All Mexican food vendors organized a small friendly competition. A panel of judges was tasked with deciding who had the best dish.
After eating all the food and drink, Tacos tj 664 won it all with their steak and shrimp taco that came with a delicious side of mango salsa that I had never had before.
When voting on all dishes, two dishes tied for my favorite. The Tacos tj 664 taco and the Alondra Tacos Alambre. It consisted of grilled beef topped with chopped bacon, peppers, onions, cheese, avocado and pineapple. I’ll have to see if it’s available at their restaurant.
Here is a video recap of our experience at Chimps and Salsa.
@wichitabyebBack to back days judging Mexican food. Was again for Chimps & Salsa at Sedgwick County Zoo. More Mexican food? I’m certainly not complaining. Fun times with the panel including Joe Stumpe, Officer Cruz and Mayor Whipple.♬ BREAK MY SOUL – Beyoncé
