The best restaurants in the little north
The Short North has undergone many changes over the years.
But one thing that has remained constant is that the neighborhood continues to be a go-to destination for some truly delicious places to grab a bite to eat.
From fine dining to casual lunch, Short North’s restaurants are innovative, exciting and iconic in one neighborhood.
There are plenty of mouth-watering treats to come, so let’s stop chatting and start planning our next meal!
Arc City Tavern
Known for its tavern sandwiches, Arch City Tavern is a great place to grab a casual bite to eat and drink with friends. There are two must-have sides on the menu at Arch City, Parmesan Fries and Brussels Sprouts. So you’ll either have to visit when you’re really hungry, or plan to share with your friends. If Happy Hour is your vibe, you can check out all the Arch City Tavern Happy Hour specials here.

Mandrake on the roof
As one of the newer restaurants in the Short North, Mandrake has already made a name for itself. The guild house
If it’s breakfast time in the Short North, you should drop what you’re doing and head to The Guild House. In my opinion, there’s no problem in the world that can’t be made a little better by The Guild House lobster and eggs. They also serve dinner, have a kids menu, and have great cocktails. There is something for every taste.

Fried chicken on the brain? The Eagle waits. It is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family or simply to enjoy a comforting dish. The patio is huge, so there will be plenty of space for the whole crew to gather and enjoy fried chicken, mac and cheese and all the trimmings.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the North High Street, Tasi Cafe is a lovely little cafe serving breakfast all day. If you’re not feeling brekkie, fear not. They also have great salads and sandwiches on the menu.

Dropping terms like “the best happy hour in the Short North” may be controversial, but I’ll say it anyway. El Segundo has delicious Mexican dishes on the menu, and the Happy Hour offerings make you feel like you’re pulling one on Cameron Mitchell himself. Please take a homemade margarita and flatbread of your choice. Honestly get it whether you go to happy hour or not. You will not regret it.

Although an ice cream shop is not technically considered a restaurant, I would be remiss if I did not include CRMD. This shop serves creative ice cream flavors inside a puffle. So what exactly is a puffle? Well, it’s an egg waffle that’s popular in Hong Kong and Macau and it’s the perfect fluffy addition to CRMD ice cream. Stop in for a scoop or two any night of the week, with late-night hours extending into weekends.
Location: 1190 N High St. Columbus, OH 43201
Marcella’s has been a Short North institution for years and for good reason. The restaurant offers exquisite Italian cuisine, from appetizers to desserts and everything in between. If you’re looking for a real treat, visit during Happy Hour where you can get half the cocktails, beer and glasses of sangria.

ROOH has become a top destination for Indian cuisine in the Short North since it opened a few years ago. With a carefully curated menu and effortlessly chic design, a night at ROOH is nothing short of special. The chefs’ ability to combine traditional Indian cuisine with local ingredients and a modern perspective creates true culinary magic.
Location: 685 N High Street, Columbus, OH 43215
Modern American cuisine is the star of the show at Rossi. With a mix of cultures on the menu, this restaurant melting pot serves up everything from pizza and pasta to burgers and salads. It’s a great place to grab a drink and nibbles or sit down for a lovely date night.
