The Mexican restaurant El Agave revisited

I met some friends over lunch and put the decision in their hands. They have chosen El Agave Mexican Restaurant. For this particular review, we headed northwest from Wichita and stopped at their location on Maize Road.

Our lunch started with free fries and salsa. The salsa was pretty standard for your Tex-Mex style restaurants. Still, that didn’t stop us from inhaling all the salsa we could.

El Agave Mexican Restaurant

I wanted to get something different and went with the Huevos Con Chorizo which was two scrambled eggs with Mexican chorizo served with rice and beans and three tortillas.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, as my last few times at the El Agave East have been less than stellar. But on this particular visit, I was very happy. I had breakfast for lunch and wasn’t angry at all. The mixture of scrambled eggs and chorizo was quite the combo. There was a memorable grilled flavor, the rice was well cooked and everything came together nicely.

Tex-Mex places can sometimes be hit or miss because the menus are so large, but I was lucky enough to find a dish that I really enjoyed.

My friends had the pollo bandido and the crab enchilada and really enjoyed their meals; basically delirious afterwards. So for this particular visit we had happy diners all around.

To top it off, the service was fantastic. I was also glad they didn’t make me choose where to go because 9 out of 10 times my friends say, “Eddy, you’re the blogger, you tell us where to go.
