Wynn’s Casa Playa offers Mexican coastal cuisine
Casa Playa, specializing in Mexican coastal cuisine, has opened at Wynn Las Vegas.
Adjacent to the Encore Beach Club, Casa Playa is designed to evoke the small seaside nooks of Mexico serving fresh grilled seafood. The decor celebrates the culture, with vivid colors and patterns and accents such as two cascading marigold lights.
Executive Chef Sarah Thompson’s menu includes dishes such as squash blossom quesadilla, Mexican blue shrimp ceviche, black truffle tostada, Yucatan chicken pibil made with orange annatto adobo and potatoes, and branzino topped with guajillo adobo, herbs and salsa cruda.
The cocktails of the mixologist of the Mariena Mercer Boarini complex include the Temple of Doom, based on Mal Bien Espadin Mezcal, grilled pineapple, chipotle and lime, and the Ojo de Tigre, with Uncle Nearest Bourbon, Patron Roca Anejo Tequila, salted almond paste with peanuts and plantain.
The restaurant also offers an extensive collection of mezcal and tequila, including some selections made from lots of 200 bottles or less.
Casa Playa is only the second Mexican restaurant in the history of Wynn Las Vegas, after the short-lived Elio.
